Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2011 GMC Yukon XL, 2011 GMC Yukon, 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- When replacing either harness, lay the replacement harness side by side with the old harness and transfer every alignment mark.
- After all alignment marks have been transferred, replace every fastener, installing each one in the correct position with the correct directional orientation.
- If the alignment marks are lost or not made before separating the harnesses then the following procedure will need to be followed. Otherwise proceed to Step 11.
- Measure Distance A on the power steering wiring harness extension harness from the top of the electrical connector and make a mark. Distance A is 11 cm (4.33 in).
- Measure Distance B on the power steering assist motor wiring harness from the top of the electrical connector and make a mark. Distance B is 12.5 cm (5 in).
- Align the two harnesses by the marks and install the appropriate fastener.
- Measure Distance A on the power steering wiring harness extension harness from the previously installed fastener and make a mark. Distance A is 20.5 cm (8 in).
- Pull any slack out of the two harnesses, hold them together at the mark that was made, and install the appropriate fastener.
- Measure Distance A on the power steering wiring harness extension harness from the previously installed fastener and make a mark. Distance A is 20.5 cm (8 in).
- Pull any slack out of the two harnesses, hold them together at the mark that was made, and install the appropriate fastener.
- Install the power steering assist motor. Refer to Power Steering Assist Motor Replacement .
IMPORTANT:
Use the new fasteners provided with the power steering wiring harness extension harness kit. Do not re-use any fasteners.

IMPORTANT:
Use a paint pen or other suitable marking tool.

Ensure the position and directional orientation of every fastener before securing it.
