Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW throttle body gasket to the intake manifold. Align the tab of the gasket with the notch in the manifold.
  2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the throttle body (508), bolts (538), and nuts (507) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

    NOTE:

    Verify that the engine wiring harness electrical connector seal for the electronic throttle control is properly installed and not damaged.

  5. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (3) to the electronic throttle control.
  6. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement .
  7. Connect a scan tool in order to test for proper throttle-opening and throttle-closing range.
  8. Operate the accelerator pedal and monitor the throttle angles. The accelerator pedal should operate freely, without binding, between a closed throttle, and a wide open throttle (WOT).
  9. Verify that the vehicle meets the following conditions:
    • The vehicle is not in a reduced engine power mode.
    • The ignition is ON.
    • The engine is OFF.
  10. Perform the Throttle Learn Procedure. Refer to Throttle/Idle Learn .
  11. Inspect for coolant leaks.
