Outside Air Temperature

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2011 GMC Yukon XL, 2011 GMC Yukon, 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The ambient air temperature sensor is a 2-wire negative temperature co-efficient thermistor mounted underhood, the HVAC control module uses the signal sent by the ambient air temperature sensor to ensure optimal performance of the air conditioning system. The HVAC control module will also send the temperature information by way of a serial data message to the body control module which in turn sends a serial data message to the driver information center which will display the outside temperature in either degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
