Retained Accessory Power (RAP) On After Timeout

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
2 Does only sunroof exhibit this symptom? Go to Step 5  Go to Step 3

  1. Observe the following parameters in DDM, FPDM and BCM data list:
    • Door Ajar Switch
    • Left Rear/Rear Cargo Door Ajar Switch
    • Right Rear Door Ajar Sw.
  2. Open and close each door while observing the respective parameter.
Does the scan tool display change from On to Off?		 Go to Step 4  Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems

  1. Install a scan tool. Select diagnostic circuit check and then class 2 power mode.
  2. Close all the doors.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Wait 5 seconds then turn the ignition OFF.
  5. Wait the time-out for RAP.
Did the scan tool display the RAP power mode, then time-out and display Off-Awake power mode?		 Go to Step 5  Go to Step 11

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the sunroof relay.
Does the sunroof operate?		 Go to Step 6  Go to Step 7 
6 Repair the short to battery in the sunroof supply voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs .
Did you complete the repair?		 Go to Step 13  -

  1. Open the driver door.
  2. Connect a test lamp across the relay coil circuits of the sunroof relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition.
Does the test lamp illuminate?		 Go to Step 8  Go to Step 9 
8 Test the RAP supply voltage circuit for a short to B+.
Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF, when testing for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing  and to Wiring Repairs .
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 13  Go to Step 11 
9 Inspect for poor connections at the sunroof relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections  and to Connector Repairs .
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 13  Go to Step 10 
10 Replace the sunroof relay.
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 13  -
11 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections  and Connector Repairs .
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 13  Go to Step 12 
12 Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.
Did you complete the procedure?		 Go to Step 13  -
13 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?		 System OK Go to Step 2
