Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (2500 Series)

Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (2500 Series)

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (1500 Series) , Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (2500 Series) .
  3. Disconnect the park brake cable from the actuator.
1 Park Brake Shoe Retaining Clip (Qty: 2)
2 Park Brake Shoe Retaining Pin (Qty: 2)
3 Park Brake Shoe Lower Return Spring
4 Park Brake Shoe Adjuster Screw
  • Clean the threads of the adjuster screw to remove any corrosion. Apply a light coat of high temperature brake lubricant to the adjuster screw threads.
  • Turn the park brake shoe adjuster screw until it is fully retracted.
5 Park Brake Shoe Upper Return Spring
6 Park Brake Shoe and Lining (Qty: 2)
  • When installing the park brake shoe, apply a small amount of brake lubricant to the brake shoe and the backing plate contact points.
  • Adjust the park brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (1500 Without JNC) .
