Removal Procedure

Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

Remove the front differential carrier shield, if equipped. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
Clean the area around the front axle fill plug and the drain plug.
Remove the fill plug (1).
Remove the drain plug (2).
Drain the fluid from the front axle differential.
