Installation Procedure

  1. Position the left side filler panel (5) to the outer body panel (1).

  3. Install the push-in retainers (6) in order to secure the filler panel (5) to the body panel.
  4. Install the left side outer panel nuts.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  6. Install the nuts (7).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  7. Position the right side filler panel (3) to the outer body panel (1).
  8. Install the push-in retainers (2) to the outer body panel (1).
  9. Install the right side filler panel screws.
  10. Install the nuts (4).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  11. Install the inner wheelhouse panel lower bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  12. Install the rear bumper. Refer to Rear Bumper Replacement (SUT)  or Rear Bumper Replacement (SUV) .

  14. Install the spare tire carrier mounts (2, 3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 85 N.m (63 lb ft).

  15. Install the rear tire carrier to the mounts. Secure the bolt.

  17. Connect the rear license plate harness connector.
  18. Secure the harness grommet to the rear bumper.
  19. Install the spare tire to the carrier frame.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

  21. Install the license plate pocket (3). Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement (SUT) or Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement (SUV) .
  22. Latch and secure the rear spare tire carrier.
