Brake Pedal Travel Measurement and Inspection (Two-mode Hybrid)

- Inspect the battery state of charge. Refer to Battery Inspection/Test .
- Install a scan tool.
- Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
- Using the scan tool, perform the following steps:
- Select Diagnostics
- Select the appropriate vehicle information
- Select Chassis
- Select Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)
- Select Special Functions
- Select Pedal Travel Check
- While observing the scan tool data display, slowly press the brake pedal with moderate effort to a force of 50 bar (725 lb in2 ).
- Record the distance the master cylinder primary piston has travelled at a pedal apply force of 50 bar (725 lb in2 ).
- Release the brake pedal.
- Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 5-7 to obtain a second measurement.
- Compute the average of the first and second measurements recorded during the brake applies.
Specification: Brake master cylinder primary piston travel, (measured with the ignition ON, engine OFF and the brake cool), at a brake pedal apply force of 50 bar (725 lb in2 ): 18 mm (0.71 in)
