Brake Pedal Travel Measurement and Inspection (Two-mode Hybrid)

Inspect the battery state of charge. Refer to Battery Inspection/Test .
Install a scan tool.
Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
Using the scan tool, perform the following steps:
1. Select Diagnostics
2. Select the appropriate vehicle information
3. Select Chassis
4. Select Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)
5. Select Special Functions
6. Select Pedal Travel Check
While observing the scan tool data display, slowly press the brake pedal with moderate effort to a force of 50 bar (725 lb in² ).
Record the distance the master cylinder primary piston has travelled at a pedal apply force of 50 bar (725 lb in² ).
Release the brake pedal.
Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 5-7 to obtain a second measurement.
Compute the average of the first and second measurements recorded during the brake applies.
Specification: Brake master cylinder primary piston travel, (measured with the ignition ON, engine OFF and the brake cool), at a brake pedal apply force of 50 bar (725 lb in² ): 18 mm (0.71 in)
