Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2008 GMC Yukon XL, 2008 GMC Yukon, 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: Clean the area around the camshaft position (CMP) sensor before removal in order to prevent debris from entering the engine.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the CMP sensor wire harness.

  4. Remove the CMP sensor wire harness bolts (705, and 738).
  5. Remove the CMP sensor wire harness (737).
  6. Remove the CMP sensor (703) and O-ring seal (704).
