Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2008 GMC Yukon XL, 2008 GMC Yukon, 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 and X3 harness connectors at the I/P fuse block.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal E1 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal A2 and ground.
- Ignition ON, command the door lock ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal A3 and B+.
- Command the door unlock ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or and open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connectors at the I/P fuse panel. Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear door lock.
- Test for less than 2.0 ohms between the control circuit terminal listed below and ground:
- Endgate lock actuator terminal A
- Endgate lock actuator terminal B
- LR passenger door lock terminal 2
- LR passenger door lock terminal 3
- RR passenger door lock terminal 5
- RR passenger door lock terminal 6
- If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the I/P fuse panel
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminals of the door lock listed below.
- Endgate lock actuator terminals A and B
- LR passenger door lock terminals 2 and 3
- RR passenger door lock terminals 5 and 6
- Command the door to LOCK and UNLOCK with a scan tool. The test lamp should briefly illuminate when commanding the LOCK and UNLOCK states.
- If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the I/P fuse panel.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear door lock.
