Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2007 GMC Yukon XL, 2007 GMC Yukon, 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the leaf spring assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Loosely assemble the spring to the front hanger bracket.
  3. Install the front spring hanger bracket bolt.
  4. Install the front spring hanger bracket nut.

  6. Install the rear spring hanger bracket bolt.
  7. Install the rear spring hanger bracket nut.
  8. IMPORTANT: Do not reuse the U-bolts.

  9. Install the spring spacer.
  10. Install the U-bolts.
  11. Install the anchor plate.
  12. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  13. Install the U-bolt nuts.

    Tighten: 

    • Tighten the front hanger bracket nut to 150 N.m (110 lb ft).
    • Tighten the rear hanger bracket nut to 95 N.m (70 lb ft).

  14. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (1500 LWB - 117.3L (31 gal) Tank) or Fuel Tank Replacement (1500 LWB - 117.3L (31 gal) Tank + E85) or Fuel Tank Replacement (1500 SWB - 98.4L (26 gal) Tank) or Fuel Tank Replacement (1500 SWB - 98.4L (26 gal) Tank + E85) or Fuel Tank Replacement (2500 LWB - 43.5L (11.5 gal) Tank-Rear) or Fuel Tank Replacement (2500 LWB - 98.4L (26 gal) Tank-Front) .
  15. Install the trailer hitch, if equipped. Refer to Trailer Hitch Replacement .
  16. Remove the rear axle support.
  17. Remove the safety stands.
  18. Lower the vehicle.
