Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 GMC Yukon XL, 2007 GMC Yukon, 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- The ECM clears the DTC from ECM history if the vehicle completes 40 warm-up cycles without a non emission diagnostic fault occurring.
- The ECM cancels the default action when the ignition is OFF long enough in order to power down the ECM.
- A scan tool can clear the DTC.
DTC P0852
| Step | Action | Value(s) | Yes | No |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? | - | Go to Step 2 | Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle |
| 2 |
IMPORTANT:
Before clearing the DTC, use the scan tool in order to record the Freeze Frame and Failure Records. Using the Clear Info function erases the Freeze Frame and Failure Records from the ECM and TCM.

| 4 | Connect a fused jumper wire between the PNP switch connector, P/N signal circuit, and ground while monitoring the scan tool PNP Switch parameter. When the P/N signal is grounded, does the PNP Switch parameter indicate PARK? |
- | Go to Step 7 | Go to Step 6 |
| 5 | Test the signal circuit of the PNP switch for a short to ground between the ECM and PNP Switch connector. Refer to Testing for Continuity
and Wiring Repairs
. Did you find and correct the condition? |

| 10 | Perform the following procedure to verify the repair:
Has the test run and passed? |
- | Go to Step 11 | Go to Step 2 |
| 11 | With the scan tool, observe the stored information, capture info and DTC info. Does the scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed? |
