Fourth Clutch Assembly Installation

    IMPORTANT: Removal of the fourth clutch backing plate retainer ring, the fourth clutch backing plate, and the fourth clutch plates will ease assembly of the overrun clutch housing assembly.
  1. Remove the fourth clutch backing plate retainer ring (523) from the fourth clutch housing (529).
  2. Remove the fourth clutch backing plate (524).
  3. Remove the clutch plates (525, 526).

  5. Install the fourth clutch housing (529) into the transmission case assembly.

  7. Install a new fourth clutch housing bolt (26).
  8. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
    IMPORTANT: Do not over torque the fourth clutch housing bolt (26).
  9. Tighten the fourth clutch housing bolt (26).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 23-26 N.m (17-19 lb ft).
