Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 GMC Yukon XL, 2007 GMC Yukon, 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install NEW seals onto the servo pistons and the servo cover.

  3. Install the 2-4 servo.
  4. Install the J 29714-A  . See Special Tools .

  6. Tighten the bolt on J 29714-A  in order to compress the servo cover. See Special Tools .
  7. Install the servo cover ring.
  8. Remove the J 29714-A  . See Special Tools .
  9. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  10. Install the oil pan bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 11 N.m (97 lb in).

  11. Raise the transmission.
  12. Install the transmission crossmember. Refer to Crossmember Replacement - Transmission (C1500 Series) or Crossmember Replacement - Transmission (C2500 Series) or Crossmember Replacement - Transmission (K1500 Series) or Crossmember Replacement - Transmission (K2500 series) .
  13. Remove the transmission jack.

  15. Install the heat shield and bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  16. Install the catalytic converter pipe. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (1500 Series) .
  17. Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® VI transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking .
  18. IMPORTANT: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.
    Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the engine control module (ECM), powertrain control module (PCM) or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.
  19. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions (TCM) .
