Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2007 GMC Yukon XL, 2007 GMC Yukon, 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the suspension position sensor.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal C and ground.
    • If greater than 1 ohm, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ESC module.
  3. Ignition ON, test for 3.7-5.5 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If less than 3.7 volts, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ESC module.
    • If greater than 5.5 volts, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ESC module.
  4. Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire at the signal circuit terminal B. Toggle the jumper wire between the low reference circuit terminal C and the 5-volt reference circuit terminal A. Verify the scan tool position sensor voltage parameter toggles between 0.35-4.75 volts.
    • If the position sensor voltage does not toggle between the min and max values test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ESC module.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the suspension position sensor.
