Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the ESCM connector.
  2. Ignition ON, measure for 0 volts between the damper control circuit and ground at the ESCM connector.
    • If over 0 volts, repair short to voltage in damper control circuit or the low reference circuit.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for infinite ohms of resistance between the damper control circuit and ground at the ESCM connector.
    • If less than infinite, test the damper control circuit or the low reference circuit for a short to ground. If circuit tests normal, test or replace faulty damper.
  4. Test for 1.5-3.3 ohms of resistance between the damper control circuit and low reference circuit at the ESCM connector.
    • If greater than 3.3 ohms test for an open/high resistance in the control circuit and low reference circuit. If circuits test normal, test or replace faulty damper.
    • If less than 1.5 ohms test for a short between the circuits. If circuit tests normal, test or replace faulty damper.
  5. If all circuits test normal, replace the ESCM.
