Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Without Hydroboost)

Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Without Hydroboost)

Callout Component Name
Tool Required: 
J 44586  Power Steering Gear Oil Seal Remover/Installer. See Special Tools .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Place a suitable drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
1 Power Steering Return Hose Clamp
Tip: 
  • Release the return hose clamp and position it off of the hose.
  • Pull the return hose off of the cooler pipe.
2 Power Steering Hose Assembly Bolt (at rack and pinion)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  12 N.m (106 lb in)


Tip:  Remove the bolt from the rack and pinion.
