Installation Procedure

  1. With the aid of an assistant, maneuver the differential carrier so that the wheel drive shafts can be installed.

  2. Install the differential carrier assembly.
    3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

  3. Install the right mounting nuts and washers.

    Tighten:  Tighten the mounting nuts to 100 N.m (75 lb ft).

  4. Install the left mounting bolts for the differential carrier.

    Tighten:  Tighten the mounting nuts to 100 N.m (75 lb ft).

  5. Remove the transmission jack stand.

  6. Install the wiring harness on the differential carrier, if needed.

  7. Install the electrical connector to the actuator motor, if needed.

  8. Install the differential carrier vent hose.
  9. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Front Propeller Shaft Replacement .

  10. Install the wheel drive shaft mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the mounting bolts to 79 N.m (58 lb ft).

  11. Install the lower control arm crossmember. Refer to Crossmember Replacement (C1500 Series ) or Crossmember Replacement (C2500 Series ) or Crossmember Replacement (K1500 Series) or Crossmember Replacement (K2500 Series) .
  12. Fill the differential carrier. Refer to Lubricant Replacement - Front Drive Axle .
  13. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
