Circuit/System Testing

  1. Verify the RUN/ACCY fuse in the underhood fuse block is not open.
  2. Remove the RUN/ACCY fuse and place the ignition switch in the RUN position. Verify that the ignition switch will not return to the OFF position.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire to the output terminal of the RUN/ACCY fuse. Verify that the ignition switch will return to the OFF position.
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X5 at the BCM.
  5. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the input terminal of the RUN/ACCY fuse and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the relay control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the underhood fuse block.
  6. Test for 70 - 130 ohms between the RAP/ACCY relay coil control circuit terminal 11 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the underhood fuse block.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuits listed for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the underhood fuse block.
