Circuit/System Testing
Midgate Latch Release Switch Circuit Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the affected latch release switch.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and the ground circuit terminal B. Verify the latches activate.
- If the latches do not activate, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the midgate module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the latch release switch.
Midgate Latch Circuit Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the affected latch.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal E and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal D and the ground circuit terminal E.
- Press and release a midgate latch release switch. The test lamp should flash ON.
- If the test lamp does not flash ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the midgate module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the latch.
Midgate Module Circuit Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at a latch release switch.
- Ignition ON, verify battery voltage is present at the switch signal circuit terminal A.
- If not the specified value test the switch signal circuit for an open/high resistance or short to ground. If the circuit tests normal replace the midgate module.
- Connect the harness connector at the latch release switch.
- Disconnect the harness connector at a latch.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal D and the ground circuit terminal E.
- Press and release a midgate latch release switch. The test lamp should flash ON.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the midgate module.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the midgate module.
