Gauge Control Module Input Test (2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023)

NOTE:

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.

3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. With the connector still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
15 RED Combination light switch ON Connect to ground with a jumper wire: The dashlights should come on full bright.
  • Faulty LEDs
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
16 BLU Combination light switch ON Connect to ground with a jumper wire: The dashlights should come on full bright.
  • Faulty bulbs
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
10 YEL Parking brake pedal pressed Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity.
  • Faulty parking brake switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Parking brake pedal released Check for continuity to ground: There should be no continuity.
  • Faulty parking brake switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

5. Reconnect the connector, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
1 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. An open or high resistance in the wire
17 GRN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. An open or high resistance in the wire
4 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G401)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
32 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G401)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
11 PNK Vehicle ON mode, brake fluid is at full level in the reservoir Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty brake fluid level switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, brake fluid is at lower level in the reservoir Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty brake fluid level switch
  • Poor ground (G352) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
31 PNK Vehicle ON mode, dashlights brightness control ILLUMI (-) button pushed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty dashlights brightness control switch
  • Poor ground (G402) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, dashlights brightness control ILLUMI (-) button released Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty dashlights brightness control switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
29 GRN Vehicle ON mode, dashlights brightness control ILLUMI (+) button pushed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty dashlights brightness control switch
  • Poor ground (G402) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, dashlights brightness control ILLUMI (+) button released Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty dashlights brightness control switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
8 BLU Vehicle ON mode, ECON mode ON Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V
  • Faulty ECON switch
  • Poor ground (G401) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, ECON mode OFF Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty ECON switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

*: With washer fluid level sensor

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
5* GRY Vehicle ON mode, washer fluid is half or more in the washer reservoir Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty washer fluid level switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, washer fluid is empty in the washer reservoir Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty washer fluid level switch
  • Poor ground (G251) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
