- Problem verification
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 4. Start the engine.
- 5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ignition coil and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems .
- Ignition coil check
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Exchange the ignition coil from the problem cylinder with one from another cylinder.
- 3. Start the engine.
- 4. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

YES
Replace the faulty ignition coil .
NO
Go to step 3.
- Fuse check
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. A23 - Refer to:
Fuse to Components Index (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2019 2020 2021) or
Fuse to Components Index (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2019 2020 2021)Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Repair a short in the IG(IGN COIL)/IG COIL/+B IG COIL wire between the ignition coil and the No. A23 fuse. Also replace the No. A23 fuse.
- Open wire check (+B IG COIL line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Relay circuit board connector A (10P) - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board connector A (10P): disconnected Test point 1 Relay circuit board connector A (10P) No. 10 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B IG COIL wire is OK. Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open in the +B IG COIL wire between the No. A23 fuse and the relay circuit board. - Refer to:
Fuse to Components Index (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2019 2020 2021) or
Fuse to Components Index (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2019 2020 2021)
- Open wire check (M RLY line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector A (50P) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board connector A (10P): disconnected PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Test point 1 Relay circuit board connector A (10P) No. 9 Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 22 - Refer to:
PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs (9-Speed A/T) (2019 2020 2021) .Is there continuity?
YES
The M RLY wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open in the M RLY wire between the PCM (A22) and the relay circuit board.
- Open wire check (IG(IGN COIL)/IG COIL) line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector(s).
Ignition coil 3P connector (problem cylinder) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board connector A (10P): disconnected PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Ignition coil 3P connector (problem cylinder): disconnected Test point 1 Ignition coil 3P connector (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Relay circuit board connector A (10P) No. 1 Is there continuity?
YES
The IG(IGN COIL)/IG COIL wire is not open. Go to step 7.
NO
Repair an open in the IG(IGN COIL)/IG COIL wire between the ignition coil and the relay circuit board.
- Shorted wire check (IG(IGN COIL)/IG COIL line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board connector A (10P): disconnected PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Ignition coil 3P connector (problem cylinder): disconnected Test point 1 Ignition coil 3P connector (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short in the IG(IGN COIL)/IG COIL wire between the ignition coil and the relay circuit board.
NO
The IG(IGN COIL)/IG COIL wire is OK. Go to step 8.
- Relay circuit board check
- 1. Remove and test the relay circuit board.
Is the relay circuit board OK?
YES
Go to step 9.
NO
- Open wire check (PHC GND line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board connector A (10P): disconnected Ignition coil 3P connector (problem cylinder): disconnected PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Test point 1 Ignition coil 3P connector (female terminals) No. 2: Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The PHC GND wires are OK. Go to step 10.
NO
Repair an open in the PHC GND wire(s) between the ignition coil and G101.
- Shorted wire check (IGN PULSE lines)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector E (80P) - 2. Check for continuity between body ground and the appropriate PCM connector terminal of the problem ignition coil (see table).
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Ignition coil 3P connector (problem cylinder): disconnected PCM connector E (80P): disconnected PROBLEM CYLINDER DTC CONNECTOR TERMINAL No. 1 P0351 PCM connector E (80P) - Refer to:

YES
Repair a short in the IGN PULSE wire between the PCM and the ignition coil.
NO
The IGN PULSE wires are not shorted. Go to step 11.
- Open wire check (IGN PULSE lines)
- 1. Check for continuity between appropriate ignition coil 3P connector (female terminals) terminal No. 3: and the appropriate PCM connector terminal of the problem ignition coil (see table).
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Ignition coil 3P connector (problem cylinder): disconnected PCM connector E (80P): disconnected PROBLEM CYLINDER DTC CONNECTOR TERMINAL No. 1 P0351 PCM connector E (80P) - Refer to:
PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs (9-Speed A/T) (2019 2020 2021) .No. 29 No. 2 P0352 No. 30 No. 3 P0353 No. 47 No. 4 P0354 No. 48 No. 5 P0355 No. 65 No. 6 P0356 No. 66 Is there continuity?
YES
The IGN PULSE wires are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (9-Speed A/T) (2019 2020 2021) , then recheck. If DTC P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, and/or P0356 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (9-Speed A/T) (2019 2020 2021) .
NO
Repair an open in the IGN PULSE wire between the PCM and the ignition coil.
