DTC : B1379 (2019 2020 2021)

DTC B1379  : Power Tailgate Left Touch/Pinch Sensor Circuit Malfunction

NOTE:  If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A - Initial Communication and DTC Checks .

B1379 Power Tailgate Left Touch/Pinch Sensor Circuit Malfunction  

DTCs (Power Tailgate Control Unit)

  1. Problem verification 1

    - 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    Clear DTCs

    - 2. Open the tailgate manually or with the keyless remote.

    - 3. Close the tailgate with the keyless remote or driver's power tailgate switch.

    - 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B1379 Power Tailgate Left Touch/Pinch Sensor Circuit Malfunction  

    Is DTC B1379 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

  2. Problem verification 2

    - 1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC Description DTC
    B1378 Power Tailgate Right Touch/Pinch Sensor Circuit Malfunction  

    Is DTC B1378 also indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  3. Open wire check (PTG SEG2 line)

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P)
    Power tailgate left pinch sensor 4P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P): disconnected
    Power tailgate left pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 8 - Refer to:
    Power Tailgate Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2019 2020 2021)
    Test point 2 Power tailgate left pinch sensor 4P connector (male terminals) No. 2: (1)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Replace the Power Tailgate Control Unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

  4. Determine possible failure area (power tailgate left pinch sensor, others)

    - 1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate left pinch sensor 4P connector

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Power tailgate left pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Power tailgate left pinch sensor 4P connector (male terminals) No. 1: (1)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Replace the Power Tailgate Left Pinch Sensor .

    NO 

    Go to step 5.

  5. Open wire check (PTG TSEL line)

    - 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Power tailgate left pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 3 - Refer to:
    Power Tailgate Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2019 2020 2021)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

    NO 

    Replace the Power Tailgate Control Unit .
