DTC B1028  : Rear wiper motor (Park) signal error

DTC Description DTC
B1028 Rear wiper motor (Park) signal error  

DTC (MICU)

NOTE:  If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A - Refer to: Body Electrical Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A - Initial Communication and DTC Checks .

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    Clear DTCs

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.

    - 3. Turn the rear window wiper switch to ON for 15 seconds or more, then turn the switch OFF.

    - 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC Description DTC
    B1028 Rear wiper motor (Park) signal error  

    Is DTC B1028 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

  2. Fuse check

    -1. Check the following fuses.

    Fuse No. C30 (10 A)
    Location Under-dash fuse/relay box

    Is each fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground in the No. C30 (10 A) fuse circuit.

  3. Rear wiper motor relay check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Remove the rear wiper motor relay from the auxiliary under-dash relay holder A, and test it.

    Power Relay (2016 2017 2018) or

    Power Relay (2019 2020 2021) .

    Is the relay OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Replace the rear wiper motor relay, then recheck.

  4. Open wire check (IG1 RR WIPER line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Rear wiper motor relay: disconnected
    Test point 1 Rear wiper motor relay (4P) No. 1
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The IG1 RR WIPER wire is OK. Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

  5. Open wire check (IG1 REM line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Rear wiper motor relay: disconnected
    Test point 1 Rear wiper motor relay (4P) No. 3
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The IG1 REM wire is OK. Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

  6. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Rear wiper motor relay: disconnected
    Test point 1 Rear wiper motor relay (4P) No. 4
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G401).

  7. Open wire check (IG1 RR WIPER line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Rear wiper motor relay (4P): disconnected
    Rear window wiper motor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Rear wiper motor relay (4P) No. 2
    Test point 2 Rear window wiper motor 3P connector No. 1

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The IG1 RR WIPER wire is OK. Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

  8. Rear window wiper motor check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Do the Rear Window Wiper Motor test.

    Does the wiper motor run and does it pulse normally?

    YES 

    Go to step 9.

    NO 

    Replace the Rear Window Wiper Motor - Removal and Installation .

  9. Shorted wire check (RR WIPER CL- line to power)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Under-dash fuse/relay box connector D (44P)

    - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Rear wiper motor relay (4P): disconnected
    Rear window wiper motor 3P connector: disconnected
    Under-dash fuse/relay box connector D (44P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Rear window wiper motor 3P connector No. 2
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair a short to power in the wire to power.

    NO 

    The RR WIPER CL- wire is not shorted to power. Go to step 10

  10. Shorted wire check (RR WIPER CL- line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Rear wiper motor relay (4P): disconnected
    Rear window wiper motor 3P connector: disconnected
    Under-dash fuse/relay box connector D (44P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Rear window wiper motor 3P connector No. 2
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short to ground in the wire.

    NO 

    The RR WIPER CL- wire is not shorted. Go to step 11.

  11. Open wire check (RR WIPER CL- line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Rear wiper motor relay (4P): disconnected
    Rear window wiper motor 3P connector: disconnected
    Under-dash fuse/relay box connector D (44P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Rear window wiper motor 3P connector No. 2
    Test point 2 Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Connector D (44P) No. 22

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The RR WIPER CL- wire is OK. Faulty MICU; replace the Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box - Removal and Installation - Removal and Installation .

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
