Parking Brake Inspection And Adjustment: Adjustment
- Vehicle - Lift
- Driver's seat - Forward move
- Parking Brake - Adjust
1. Release the parking brake pedal fully. 2. Press the parking brake pedal 1 click.
3. Tighten the adjusting nut (A) until the parking brakes drag slightly when the rear wheels are turned.
4. Release the parking brake pedal fully.
5. Check that the parking brakes do not drag when the rear wheels are turned. Readjust if necessary.
6. Make sure the parking brake pedal is within the specified number of clicks (9 to 11 clicks).
Major Adjustment (to be done when replacing parking brake shoes)
- Vehicle - Lift
- Rear Wheels - Remove
- Driver's seat - Forward move
- Parking Brake - Adjust
1. Release the parking brake pedal fully. 2. Loosen the adjusting nut (A).
3. Remove the access plug (A). 4. Turn the ratchet teeth on the adjuster nut (B) with a brake adjuster tool or a flat-tip screwdriver (C) until the shoes lock against the parking brake drum. Then back off the adjuster 8 clicks.
5. Install the access plug.
6. Press the parking brake pedal 1 click. 7. Tighten the adjusting nut (A) until the parking brakes drag slightly when the rear wheels are turned.
8. Release the parking brake pedal fully.
9. Check that the parking brakes do not drag when the rear wheels are turned. Readjust if necessary.
10. Make sure the parking brake pedal is within the specified number of clicks (9 to 11 clicks).
- Rear Wheels - Install
