In conjunction with the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), the driver's seat belt is gently pulled back several times when there is a high risk of collision, to provide a physical warning. If the system judges that it will be difficult to avoid a collision, it strongly pulls in the driver's and passenger's seat belts to increase the restraint effect on the occupants. The E-pretensioner also operates when the driver applies emergency braking and the brake assist operates.
