DTC B2850-11  : Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Power Circuit Short

NOTE:

DTC (E-pretensioner)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B2850-11 Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Power Circuit Short  

    Is DTC B2850-11 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.

  2. Shorted wire check (E-PT MTR L VC line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Test circuit E-PT MTR L VC
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 3 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 5.

  3. Shorted wire check (E-PT MTR L VC line) 2

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit E-PT MTR L VC
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 3 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Faulty driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the driver's seat belt .

  4. Shorted wire check (E-PT MTR L VC line) 3

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P)

    -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P): disconnected
    Test circuit E-PT MTR L VC
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 3 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short to ground in the wire between the E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) of the E-pretensioner unit and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

    NO 

    The E-PT MTR L VC wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .

  5. Shorted wire check (E-PT MTR L VC line to power)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P)

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P): disconnected
    Test circuit E-PT MTR L VC
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 3 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.5 V or more?

    YES 

    Repair a short to power in the wire between the E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) of the E-pretensioner unit and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

    NO 

    The E-PT MTR L VC wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .
