Driver can select reverse gear when vehicle speed is 20 km/h (12 mph) or more
- PGM-FI system DTC check
-1. Test-drive the vehicle.
-2. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs in the PGM-FI SYSTEM with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame Are any DTCs stored?
YES
Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting .
NO
DTC is not indicated. Go to step 2.
- Open wire check (IG1 (RVS LCK) line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector No. 1 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 (RVS LCK) wire is OK. Go to step 3.
NO
Repair an open in the IG1 (RVS LCK) wire between the No. C30 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the reverse lockout solenoid.
- Open wire check (RVS LCK line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector A (51P) -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode PCM connector C (51P): disconnected Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector: disconnected Test point 1 PCM connector A (51P) No. 21 Test point 2 Reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector No. 2 Is there continuity?
YES
The RVS LCK wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Repair an open in the RVS LCK wire between the reverse lockout solenoid and the PCM.
- Reverse lockout solenoid check
-1. Do the reverse lockout solenoid test .
Is the reverse lockout solenoid OK?
YES
Check for loose terminals or poor connections between the PCM and the reverse lockout solenoid. If necessary, update the PCM if it does not have the latest software , or substitute a known-good PCM , and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with the updated PCM, troubleshooting is complete. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM .
