DTC B0002-2B : Short to Another Wire Harness in the Driver's Airbag Second Inflator
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components of the correct part number and were properly installed .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information , and 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection .

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0002-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's airbag second inflator Is DTC B0002-2B indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- DTC check
-1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Go to step 4.
- Shorted wire check (LA2 lines to another line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Remove the driver's airbag .
-4. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P) SRS unit connector B (39P) Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness) Inflator connectors which are assigned to 2B codes listed on HDS -5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 of SRS unit connector A (39P) and SRS unit connector B (39P) according to table.

Short to another wire in the dashboard wire harness or the floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
NO
The LA2 wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit or SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness or the floor wire harness.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 1
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Remove the driver's airbag .
-4. Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness) Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness) -5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness) Test point 2 Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness) Test point 1 Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness) Test point 2 Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness) Is there continuity?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
The LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, and LA2- wires are OK. Faulty driver's airbag second inflator; replace the driver's airbag , then clear the DTC.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 2
-1. Remove the column covers .
-2. Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness) Test point 2 Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness) Test point 1 Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness) Test point 2 Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness) Is there continuity?
YES
Short to another wire in the cable reel; replace the cable reel , then clear the DTC.
NO
Go to step 6.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 3
-1. Disconnect the following connectors.
SRS unit connector A (39P) -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 9 Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 10 Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 11 Is there continuity?
YES
Short to another wire in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
NO
The LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, and LA2- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
