DTC B0001-2B

DTC B0001-2B  : Short to Another Wire Harness in the Driver's Airbag First Inflator

DTC Description DTC
B0001-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's airbag first inflator  

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC Description DTC
    B0001-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's airbag first inflator  

    Is DTC B0001-2B indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. DTC check

    -1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B0002-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's airbag second inflator  
    B0004-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's knee airbag inflator  
    B0010-2B Short to another wire harness in the front passenger's airbag first inflator  
    B0011-2B Short to another wire harness in the front passenger's airbag second inflator  
    B0020-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's side airbag inflator  
    B0021-2B Short to another wire harness in the left side curtain airbag first inflator  
    B0028-2B Short to another wire in the front passenger's side airbag inflator  
    B0029-2B Short to another wire harness in the right side curtain airbag first inflator  
    B0070-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's seat belt tensioner  
    B0072-2B Short to another wire harness in the front passenger's seat belt tensioner  
    B0082-2B Short to another wire harness in the selectable energy absorption device of the front passenger's seat belt tensioner  

    Is DTC B0002-2B, B0004-2B, B0010-2B, B0011-2B, B0020-2B, B0021-2B, B0028-2B, B0029-2B, B0070-2B, B0072-2B, or B0082-2B indicated with DTC B0001-2B?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  3. Shorted wire check (LA1 lines to another line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the driver's airbag .

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector A (39P)
    SRS unit connector B (39P)
    Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness)
    Inflator connectors which are assigned to 2B codes listed on HDS

    -5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 of SRS unit connector A (39P) and SRS unit connector B (39P) according to table.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected
    Inflator connectors which are assigned to 2B codes listed on HDS: disconnected

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Short to another wire in the dashboard wire harness or the floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

    NO 

    The LA1 wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit or SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness or the floor wire harness.

  4. Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the driver's airbag .

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness)
    Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness)

    -5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected
    Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected
    Test point 1 Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness)
    Test point 2 Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness)
    Test point 1 Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness)
    Test point 2 Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    The LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, and LA2- wires are OK. Faulty driver's airbag second inflator; replace the driver's airbag , then clear the DTC.

  5. Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 2

    -1. Remove the column covers .

    -2. Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected
    Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected
    Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected
    Test point 1 Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness)
    Test point 2 Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness)
    Test point 1 Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness)
    Test point 2 Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Short to another wire in the cable reel; replace the cable reel , then clear the DTC.

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 3

    -1. Disconnect the following connectors.

    SRS unit connector A (39P)

    -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected
    Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected
    Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected
    Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 9
    Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 10
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8
    Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 11

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Short to another wire in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.

    NO 

    The LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, and LA2- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
