DTC U1207  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - Electric A/C Compressor)

DTC U12B2  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - Climate Control Unit)

DTC U1600  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - PCM)

DTC U1603  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - Battery Condition Monitor Module A)

DTC U1604  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - Traction Motor Control Module)

DTC U1605  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - Generator Motor Control Module)

NOTE:
  • Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .
  • According to the detected DTC(s), check for the power circuit and the ground circuit of the control unit which cannot communicate with battery condition monitor module B.

DTC (Electric Powertrain)

  1. CAN gateway system DTC check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Check for CAN gateway system DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC (CAN Gateway)

    Are any DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to the troubleshooting for CAN gateway system DTC(s) .

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. F-CAN circuit communication check (Receiving control unit)

    -1. Select the Function Test in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

    Which result is indicated?

    Bus A is Not Available 

    Go to step 3.

    Bus A is Available 

    Go to step 5.

  3. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Remove the service plug .

    -4. Disconnect the following connectors.

    IPU 33P connector
    CAN gateway 16P connector

    -5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      IPU 33P connector: disconnected
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 IPU 33P connector No. 26
    Test point 2 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 1 IPU 33P connector No. 27
    Test point 2 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 11:

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire and/or the F-CAN A_L wire between the IPU and the CAN gateway.

  4. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 2

    -1. Remove the IPU .

    -2. Remove the IPU cover .

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Battery condition monitor module B connector G (24P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      IPU 33P connector: disconnected
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      Battery condition monitor module B connector G (24P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Battery condition monitor module B connector G (24P) No. 12
    Test point 2 IPU 33P connector (male terminals) No. 26:
    Test point 1 Battery condition monitor module B connector G (24P) No. 24
    Test point 2 IPU 33P connector (male terminals) No. 27:

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery condition monitor module B .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire and/or the F-CAN A_L wire between battery condition monitor module B and IPU 33P connector.

  5. F-CAN circuit communication check (Transmitting control unit)

    -1. Select the Function Test in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

    -2. According to the detected DTC on the following table, make sure that the transmitting control unit detects the CAN gateway Bus channel(s) normally.

    Is it detected normally?

    Detected normal 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the transmitting control unit and the CAN gateway.

    U1207: Electric A/C compressor is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U12B2: Climate control unit is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U1600: PCM is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U1600: PCM is Not Available for Bus B 

    Go to step 8.

    U1603: Battery condition monitor module A is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U1604: PCU (traction motor control module) is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U1605: PCU (generator motor control module) is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, disconnect the transmitting control unit connector(s).

    NOTE:

    U12B2 Climate control unit connector A (32P)
    U1600 PCM connector A (50P)
    U1603 IPU 33P connector
    U1604 PCU 33P connector

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Is there continuity?

    YES (except U1603) 

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, substitute the correspond control unit.

    DTC Operation for transmitting control unit
    U1207 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the electric A/C compressor. Substitute a known-good electric A/C compressor .
    U12B2 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the climate control unit. Substitute a known-good climate control unit .
    U1600 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCM. Substitute a known-good PCM .
    U1604 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCU. Substitute a known-good PCU .
    U1605 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCU. Substitute a known-good PCU .

    YES (U1603) 

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire or the F-CAN A_L wire between the transmitting control unit and the CAN gateway.

  7. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 2

    -1. Remove the IPU .

    -2. Remove the IPU cover .

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      IPU 33P connector: disconnected
      Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P): disconnected
    Test point 1 IPU 33P connector (male terminals) No. 26:
    Test point 2 Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P) No. 12
    Test point 1 IPU 33P connector (male terminals) No. 27:
    Test point 2 Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P) No. 24

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery condition monitor module A .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire or the F-CAN A_L wire between the IPU 33P connector and battery condition monitor module A.

  8. Open wire check (F-CAN B_H line, F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait for more than 1 minute.

    -3. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCM connector A (50P)

    -5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
    Test point 1 PCM connector A (50P) No. 39
    Test point 2 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 6:
    Test point 1 PCM connector A (50P) No. 38
    Test point 2 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 14:

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good PCM .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_H wire or the F-CAN B_L wire between the PCM and the CAN gateway.
