DTC U0146 (307) (Battery Condition Monitor Module B)

DTC U0146  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - CAN Gateway)

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

U0146 F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - CAN Gateway)      

DTC (Electric Powertrain)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    U0146 F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor Module B - CAN Gateway)      

    Is DTC U0146 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at battery condition monitor module B and the CAN gateway. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.

  2. CAN gateway system DTCs check

    -1. Check for CAN gateway system DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC (CAN Gateway)

    Are any DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to the CAN gateway system DTC(s) troubleshooting .

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Remove the service plug .

    -4. Disconnect the following connectors.

    CAN gateway 16P connector
    IPU 33P connector

    -5. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      IPU 33P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 IPU 33P connector No. 26
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 11:
    Test point 2 IPU 33P connector No. 27

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire and/or the F-CAN A_L wire between the IPU and the CAN gateway.

  4. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 2

    -1. Remove the IPU .

    -2. Remove the IPU cover .

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Battery condition module B connector G (24P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      IPU 33P connector: disconnected
      Battery condition module B connector G (24P): disconnected
    Test point 1 IPU 33P connector (male terminals) No. 26:
    Test point 2 Battery condition module B connector G (24P) No. 12
    Test point 1 IPU 33P connector (male terminals) No. 27:
    Test point 2 Battery condition module B connector G (24P) No. 24

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery condition monitor module B .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire and/or the F-CAN A_L wire between the IPU 33P connector and battery condition monitor module B.
