DTC P0C43 (1077)
DTC P0C43 (1077): ES Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range/Performance
General Description
The electric powertrain system has a system to cool the battery pack, battery charger and DC-DC converter with coolant. The coolant temperature is monitored by the battery condition monitor module A with two sensors installed on the radiator. Battery condition monitor module A detects abnormal coolant temperature by comparing the value of the two temperature sensors. When the coolant temperature is abnormal for a set time or more, the battery condition monitor module A detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 37 seconds or more |
| DTC Type | Two drive cycles, MIL off, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 volt battery charging system indicator off |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| ES electric water pump speed | 1, 065 RPM | - |
| Vehicle condition | Vehicle ON mode, or Plug-in charge on, or Plug-in quick charge on | |
Malfunction Threshold
The coolant temperature is less than 52 deg.F (11 deg.C) for at least 8 minutes 20 seconds.
Possible Cause
- Coolant leak
- Coolant air inclusion
- ES coolant temperature sensor 1 failure
- ES coolant temperature sensor 2 failure
- Battery condition monitor module A failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait at least 5 minutes 15 seconds.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the battery condition monitor module A memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The POWER SYSTEM indicator is cleared if the malfunction does not return in the next trip in which the diagnostic runs. The POWER SYSTEM indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
