DTC P0BBD (147)

DTC P0BBD (147):  HV Battery Pack Voltage Variation Exceeded Limit

General Description

GHH415077Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The battery pack is made of two battery banks connected in parallel. If the voltage of each bank, which are calculated based on individual cell voltages from the cell voltage sensor, are compared before (open circuit) and after (closed circuit) the contactor is turned on, and the differences are above the specified value for a certain time frame, it determines it as a malfunction.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration -
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 volt battery charging system indicator off

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
Battery condition monitor module A power-supply voltage 10.2 V -
Vehicle condition Vehicle ON mode, or Plug-in charge on, or Plug-in quick charge on
Other Before main contactor is ON

Malfunction Threshold

The difference between the each battery cells voltage are more than 14.1 V.

Possible Cause

NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
  • Main contactor A-positive CNT1(A) line open
  • Main contactor A-negative CNT2(A) line open
  • Main contactor B-positive CNT1(B) line open
  • Main contactor B-negative CNT2(B) line open
  • Bus bar poor connection
  • Main contactor A-positive stuck off
  • Main contactor A-negative stuck off
  • Main contactor B-positive stuck off
  • Main contactor B-negative stuck off
  • Battery pack fuse blown

Confirmation Procedure

Operating Condition

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait at least 2 seconds.

With the HDS

None.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the battery condition monitor module A memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator is cleared if the malfunction does not return in the next trip in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
