DTC P0ACA (974)

DTC P0ACA (974):  HV Battery Temperature Sensor 3A Circuit

General Description

GHH415034Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

Seven battery module temperature sensors are attached to the battery module in the battery pack, and the battery condition monitor module A continuously monitors the battery module temperature. If the battery condition monitor module A input voltage from battery module temperature sensor 3(A) is out of the specified voltage for a set time, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 3.0 seconds or more
DTC Type Two drive cycles, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 volt battery charging system indicator off

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
Elapsed time since the 12 volt battery voltage reaches to a specified value after the vehicle condition is turned to the ON mode 50 milliseconds -
12 volt battery voltage 8.0 V -

Malfunction Threshold

One of these conditions is met:

Possible Cause

NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
  • Battery module temperature sensor 3(A) failure
  • Battery condition monitor module A failure

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the battery condition monitor module A memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator are cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
