DTC P0AA6 (59)
DTC P0AA6 (59): HV Battery Voltage System Isolation Fault
General Description
There are high voltage parts, including the battery pack, in the electric powertrain system. The high voltage part is insulated from the body on both positive and negative circuits. The battery condition monitor module A detects decreases in the insulation resistance (short circuit resistance), and if the resistance drops to a specified resistance (short circuit resistance), a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | - |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL off, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 volt battery charging system indicator off |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | ||
|---|---|---|
| Main contactor | ON | |
| Vehicle condition | Vehicle ON mode, or Plug-in charge off, or Plug-in quick charge off | |
Malfunction Threshold
The short circuit resistance value is 369 kΩ or less for at least 700 milliseconds.
Possible Cause
- Motor power cable short to ground
- Battery charger internal failure
- Inverter internal failure
- DC-DC converter internal failure
- Battery pack internal failure
- Motor failure
- Contactor failure
- Electric A/C compressor internal failure
- Battery condition monitor module A internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait at least 30 seconds.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the battery condition monitor module A memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The POWER SYSTEM indicator is cleared if the malfunction does not return in the next trip in which the diagnostic runs. The POWER SYSTEM indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
