DTC P0562 (15) (Battery Condition Monitor Module A)

DTC P0562 (15):  Battery Condition Monitor Module A System Voltage Low

General Description

The battery condition monitor module A monitors the voltage of back-up power supply. When the back-up power supply voltage is a specified voltage for a set time, a malfunction is detected and a DTC.

Duration 2.0 seconds or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 volt battery charging system indicator off

Enable Conditions 

Condition Minimum Maximum
12 volt battery voltage 7.7 V -

Malfunction Threshold 

The back-up power supply voltage is 0.5 V or less for at least 2.0 seconds.

Possible Cause 

NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
  • Battery condition monitor module A VBU line open (include fuse blown)
  • Battery condition monitor module A failure

Diagnosis Details 

Conditions for setting the DTC 

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the battery condition monitor module A memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC 

The MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator are cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
