DTC Troubleshooting: P0501(CVT (TCM))

DTC P0501  : CVT Speed Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

NOTE: 

DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
P0501 CVT Speed Sensor Circuit Range/Performance      

DTC(CVT)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Raise the vehicle on a lift. Make sure it is securely supported, and allow all four wheels to rotate freely.

    -4. Enter the VSA maintenance mode .

    -5. Run the vehicle with the shift lever in D position/mode, and the engine speed at 1, 000 rpm or higher, then release the accelerator pedal without pressing it again, for at least 4 seconds. Slow down and stop the wheels.

    -6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    P0501 CVT Speed Sensor Circuit Range/Performance      

    Is DTC P0501 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections and loose terminals between the CVT speed sensor and the TCM. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.

  2. CVT speed sensor installation check

    -1. Check for poor connections and loose terminals between the CVT speed sensor and the TCM, and check for proper installation of the CVT speed sensor.

    Are the connection and installation OK?

    YES 

    Connection and installation are OK. Replace the CVT speed sensor .

    NO 

    Repair faulty connection or installation.
