Steering Gearbox Removal and Installation: Installation
NOTE:
Where icon is shown, further information shown below.
- Using clean solvent and a brush, wash any oil and dirt off the end of the steering gearbox. Blow dry with compressed air.
- Unless otherwise indicated, illustrations used in the procedure are for AWD model.

- Steering Gearbox - Install
1. Loosely install the steering gearbox (A) and steering gearbox stiffeners (B) to the front subframe with new mounting bolts. 2. Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque in the numbered sequence shown.
3. Install the pinion shaft grommet (C).
NOTE: Install the grommet with the arrow facing towards the front of the vehicle.
- Front Stabilizer Bar Bushing Holder - Install
1. Install both sides of the front stabilizer bar bushing holder . - Front Subframe - Install
1. Set the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) on a transmission jack (A), line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, and tighten the bolts. 2. Attach the subframe adapter to the front subframe (B).

- Front Lower Arm Mounting Bolt - Install
1. Install both sides of the front lower arm mounting bolt to the body . - Lower Torque Rod - Install
- Front Subframe Brace - Install
- Propeller Shaft - Install (AWD)
- Exhaust Pipe A - Install
- Front Lower Arm - Connect
1. Connect both sides of the front lower arm to the ball joints . - Stabilizer Link - Connect
1. Connect both sides of the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar . - Connectors (EPS Harness) - Connect
1. Install the harness clip (A). 2. Connect the connectors (B).
- Engine Undercover - Install
- Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect (Both Sides)
- Steering Joint - Connect
- Front Wheel - Install
- 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
- Wheel Alignment - Check
- Steering Gearbox After Install - Check
1. After installation, check these items: - With the front wheels straight ahead, make sure the steering wheel is centered and the turning revolutions from center to full lock (left and right) is equal. If not, check the installation of the steering wheel and the engagement of the joint/pinion shaft splines.
- With the tires raised off the ground, check for noise and abnormality by turning the steering wheel fully to the right and left several times.
- Check the power steering assist .
- Check that the EPS indicator does not come on.
- VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize
