DTC P271A
DTC P271A : Park Pawl Position Sensor A Circuit Low
General Description
The park pawl actuator driver unit performs the initial learning and controls the park pawl actuator to switch the position to parking or non-parking by the command from the powertrain control module (PCM). If any abnormalities occur in the angle sensor in the park pawl actuator and the condition continues for a set time, the PCM receives a malfunction from the park pawl actuator driver unit and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

| 10.43 V*** | - |
Malfunction Threshold
Any of these conditions is met:
- Case 1
The output value of the angle sensor in the park pawl actuator remains unchanged for 932 milliseconds or more during the initial learning.
- Case 2
The output value of the angle sensor in the park pawl actuator remains unchanged for 104 milliseconds or more when the switching to the parking position or the non-parking position.
- Case 3
The 12 volt battery voltage exceeds the specified value after the 12 volt battery voltage continues to be less than the specified value for at least 30 seconds during the initial learning.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait at least 10 seconds.
- While pressing the brake pedal, shift the transmission to N, D, and R position/mode, then shift transmission to P position/mode and wait at least 5 seconds.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the shift position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
