DTC P24B8: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Leak Check Module Absolute Pressure Sensor Out of Range
General Description
The evaporative emission (EVAP) leak check module pressure sensor is a sensor used for leak detection of the fuel tank. The limit of the EVAP leak check module pressure sensor output is specified. If the output is exceed that limit, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
The EVAP leak check module pressure sensor output level is 115 kPa (34 inHg, 857 mmHg) or more for at least 6 seconds.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- EVAP leak check module pressure sensor ELCMPA line open
- EVAP leak check module pressure sensor SG line open
- EVAP leak check module pressure sensor VCC line open
- EVAP leak check module pressure sensor ELCMPA line short to ground
- EVAP leak check module pressure sensor ELCMPA line short to power
- EVAP leak check module pressure sensor failure
- PCM internal circuit failure

Operating Condition
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for at least 6 seconds.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
