DTC P05A8
DTC P05A8: Shutter Grille Actuator (Upper) Malfunction
General Description
The shutter grille system open/closes the shutter depending on the driving conditions. The system improves fuel efficiency by reducing the wind drag. The shutter is controlled by the shutter grille which integrates the actuator. The powertrain control module (PCM) sends open/close requests which depends on the driving conditions to the shutter grille via the local interconnect network (LIN) line. If the actuator voltage is detected as abnormal, the PCM confirms the abnormality and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 2.5 seconds or more |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL off |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | |
|---|---|
| State of the engine | Running |
Malfunction Threshold
The shutter grille actuator voltage is 17.5 V or more, or 7.5 V or less for at least 2.5 seconds when the power supply voltage of the PCM is 10.5 V or more.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Shutter grille power supply line open
- Shutter grille power supply line short to ground
- Shutter grille power supply line short to power
- Shutter grille GND line open
- Shutter grille internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
