DTC P05A3
DTC P05A3: Shutter Grille Actuator (Upper) Malfunction
General Description
The shutter grille system open/closes the shutter depending on the driving conditions. The system improves fuel efficiency by reducing the wind drag. The shutter is controlled by the shutter grille which integrates the actuator. The powertrain control module (PCM) sends open/close requests which depends on the driving conditions to the shutter grille via the local interconnect network (LIN) line. The PCM also receives failure information from the shutter grille via the LIN line and discriminates a failure by the received signal value. If the PCM receives a specified signal from the shutter grille, the PCM detects as a shutter grille line open/short failure and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 2.5 seconds or more |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL off |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | |
|---|---|
| State of the engine | Running |
Malfunction Threshold
Either of the condition occurs:
- The shutter grille actuator states a short to ground or read/write errors in the EEPROM of the motor for at least 2.5 seconds.
- The shutter grille actuator states a transmit/receive error in LIN communication for at least 2.5 seconds.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Shutter grille internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
