Oil Pump, Pulley End Crankshaft Oil Seal, and Cam Chain

Replace
*1 These parts have inspection items
  1. Key - Install (if necessary)
  2. Cam Chain - Install

    		 1. Install cam chain guide B.

    2. Align the mark (A) on the VTC actuator with the mark (C) on cam chain guide B.

    		 3. Align the mark (A) on the exhaust camshaft sprocket with the mark (C) on cam chain guide B.

    4. Remove cam chain guide B.

    		 5. Set the crankshaft to top dead center (TDC). Align the TDC mark (A) on the crankshaft sprocket with the pointer (B) on the engine block.

    		 6. Install the cam chain on the crankshaft sprocket with the mark (A) aligned with the center of the two colored link plates (B).

    		 7. Install the cam chain on the VTC actuator with the colored link plate (A) aligned with the mark (B) on the VTC actuator.

    		 8. Install the cam chain on the exhaust camshaft sprocket with the marks (A) aligned with each colored link plates (B).
  3. Cam Chain Guide - Install
  4. Cam Chain Tensioner Arm - Install
  5. Cam Chain Guide B - Install
  6. Cam Chain Auto-Tensioner - Install

    		 1. Compress the cam chain auto-tensioner when replacing the cam chain. Remove the pin (A) from the cam chain auto-tensioner that was installed during removal. Turn the plate (B) counterclockwise, to release the lock, then press the rod (C), and set the first cam (D) to the first edge of the rack (E). Insert the 1.2 mm (0.047 in) diameter pin back into the holes (F).
    NOTE:  If the cam chain auto-tensioner is not set up as described, the cam chain auto-tensioner will be damaged.

    		 2. Install the cam chain auto-tensioner filter (A) and the cam chain auto-tensioner (B).
    NOTE:  Check the cam chain auto-tensioner filter for damage. If the filter is damaged, replace it.

    		 3. Remove the pin (A) from the cam chain auto-tensioner.

    		 4. Check the camshaft position. Turn the crankshaft to align No. 1 position at top dead center (TDC). Align the TDC mark (A) on the crankshaft sprocket with the pointer (B) on the engine block.

    		 5. Make sure the mark (A) on the VTC actuator aligns with the mark (C) on cam chain guide B.

    		 6. Make sure the mark (A) on the exhaust camshaft sprocket aligns with the mark (C) on cam chain guide B.
  7. Pulley End Crankshaft Oil Seal - Install (if necessary)

    		 1. Clean and dry the pulley end crankshaft oil seal housing.

    2. Apply light coat of new engine oil to the lip of the pulley end crankshaft oil seal.

    3. Use the oil seal driver to drive the pulley end crankshaft oil seal (A) squarely into the oil pump to the specified installed height.

    		 4. Measure the distance between the oil pump surface (A) and the pulley end crankshaft oil seal (B).
    Pulley End Crankshaft Oil Seal Installed Height: 
    52.1-52.7 mm (2.051-2.075 in) 
  8. Oil Pump - Install

    		 1. Apply liquid gasket

    to the engine block and the oil pan mating surface of the oil pump and to the inside edge of the threaded bolt holes.

    2. Set the edge of the oil pump (A) on the edge of the oil pan (B).

    3. Install the oil pump on the engine block (C).

    4. Loosely install the dowel bolts (D), then tighten the 8 mm bolts (E), the 6 mm bolts (F), and the dowel bolts.

    5. Wipe off the excess liquid gasket on the oil pan and oil pump mating surface.

    NOTE:  Do not slide the bottom surface onto the oil pan mounting surface.
  9. Chain Case Cover - Install (if necessary)

    NOTE: Apply liquid gasket to the oil pump mating surface of the chain case cover and to the inside edge of the threaded bolt holes.

  10. Side Engine Mount - Install
  11. Electric VTC Motor - Install 
  12. Cylinder Head Cover - Install
  13. Crankshaft Pulley - Install
  14. Engine Undercover - Install
  15. Right Front Wheel - Install
  16. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
