Rear Differential Removal and Installation: Removal: Procedure

NOTE:
Numbered call-outs in figure pertain to list numbers in following procedure.

- Vehicle - Lift
- Rear Differential Fluid - Drain
- Muffler - Remove
- No. 2 Propeller Shaft - Disconnect
- Connectors (Rear Differential Subharness) - Disconnect
1. Remove the cover (A). 2. Disconnect the connectors (B).
3. Remove the harness clip (C).
- Breather Hose - Disconnect
Left side Right side
1. Disconnect the breather hoses (A). - Rear Differential - Support
NOTE: Support the Rear Differential with a transmission jack.
- Rear Differential Mounting Bolt - Remove
- Rear Driveshaft Inboard Side - Disconnect
1. Lower the rear differential assembly (A) while pulling both rear driveshaft inboard joints (B) out of the rear differential assembly.
NOTE:- Be careful not to damage the driveshaft rings (C) when prying out the driveshaft inboard joints.
- Be careful not to damage the oil seals (D).
2. Remove the driveshaft inboard joint set ring (A) on both sides. - Rear Differential Assembly - Remove
- Rear Differential Front Mount - Remove
