DTC B0001-13 : Open or Increased Resistance in the Driver's Airbag First Inflator

NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components of the correct part number and were properly installed .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information , and 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection .

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0001-13 Open or increased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-13 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- Driver's airbag inflator check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Remove the driver's airbag .
-4. Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness) NOTE: Make sure to work with the driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (A) that has a guide tab (B) on the right side of the No. 2 terminal as shown.
-5. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1 (on the cable reel harness): Terminal B Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2 (on the cable reel harness): -6. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
-7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-8. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0001-13 Open or increased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-13 indicated?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Open in the driver's airbag first inflator; replace the driver's airbag , then clear the DTC.
- Cable reel check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Remove the jumper wire from the driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector on the cable reel harness.
-4. Remove the column covers .
-5. Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
-6. Connect the terminals of SRS simulator lead J to the SRS inflator simulator (2 Ω connectors), then connect SRS simulator lead J to cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
-7. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
-8. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-9. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-10.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0001-13 Open or increased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-13 indicated?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Open in the cable reel; replace the cable reel , then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (LA1+, LA1- lines)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P) -4. Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator from SRS simulator lead J. Do not disconnect SRS simulator lead J from cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
-5. Measure the resistance of the test point.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): connected to SRS simulator lead J Test point SRS simulator lead J red terminal Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The LA1+ and LA1- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
NO
Open or increased resistance in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
