DTC P1D8A:  Generator Motor Inverter Gate Line Open

General Description

GHH381833Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The power control unit (PCU) cannot be able to output malfunction information (SC) signal which outputs by an occurrence of IGBT overcurrent if the SC detection circuit malfunctions. Three motor phase current typically generate sine waves centered around 0 A. But if it malfunctions, a part of the waveform chips or one phase fixes to 0 A resulting an occurrence of difference between the commanded current and the actual current. If either of the following conditions occurs, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Symptom 1

If the 3-phase current sensor output value is out of a specified value for a specified time, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Symptom 2

If the deviation between the current sensor output (A) and command value is out of a specified value in specified times, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
