DTC P1D81
DTC P1D81: VCU Malfunction Signal Low (Traction Motor Control Module Detected)
General Description
When fail safe occurs in the power drive unit (PDU), a VCU FO signal is transmitted to the motor control module and the gate is collaboratively blocked. If the harness for VCU FO signal is disconnected, a gate signal for the traction motor / generator motor is blocked while a VCU FO signal is blocked even if any fail safe does not occur. If a VCU FO signal is continuously blocked although a VCU output permission signal (VCU EN signal) is "permitted to be output," the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
If a VCU FO signal is blocked although a VCU output permission signal (VCU EN signal) is "permitted to be output" for at least 2.5 seconds.
Possible Cause

- PCU internal failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
