DTC P1D77:  VCU I1 Current Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

General Description

GHH381823Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The power control unit (PCU) controls the voltage control unit (VCU) output based on the I1 current sensor signals. If the signal current from the I1 current sensor exceeds a set value for a specified time, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Gate drive circuit is ON condition
Sequence None
Duration 2 seconds or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
12 volt battery voltage 8 V -
High voltage side power supply voltage (6 V) 5 V -
VCU control mode Direct connection
Power drive unit (PDU) 1 control mode PWM mode
Power drive unit (PDU) 2 control mode PWM mode

Malfunction Threshold

The difference between the I1 current detection value and the I1 current estimated value is more than 50 A and continues for 2 seconds or more.

Possible Cause

NOTE:  The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
