DTC P1D72: Traction Motor Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance (Lo Side)
General Description
The power control unit (PCU) detects the traction motor temperature with a traction motor temperature sensor installed in the traction motor. The motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC when the traction motor temperature sensor value does not change from the initial value continuously for the prescribed time though the traction motor is under load.

Malfunction Threshold
When the deviation between the temperature sensor value while the traction motor is operating under high duty and the initial temperature sensor value at the start is 1 deg.F (1 deg.C) or less continuously for 8 seconds or more.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
